(Austin, TX) — This week, J Street PAC announced their endorsement of Joseph Kopser for Congress in TX-21. J Street released the following statement:

“As an Army veteran who served in Iraq and a technology executive with experience in defense, Joseph Kopser understands that the United States and Israel have a special relationship. He recognizes that Israel’s long-term security depends on the realization of a two-state solution and that the US has an important role to play in brokering negotiations. Additionally, it is Kopser’s view that a two-state solution will protect Israel’s identity as a democracy and the Jewish homeland.”

In response to the endorsement, Joseph Kopser said,

“We live in a complicated world, and we need to elect leaders who have experience managing that complexity. I’ve had a first-hand view of Middle East tension from two different perspectives–I twice served the Army in the Middle East in Iraq and worked with Israeli entrepreneurs in my business career. In Congress, I will be a dedicated advocate for a diplomatic approach to curbing Iran’s nuclear program, maintaining Israel’s military edge, and supporting state building and security efforts in the West Bank. I look forward to working with J Street in support of pursuing a safe, stable solution for all parties involved.”

The endorsement also adds to a growing list of local and regional leaders supporting Joseph Kopser, including Sen. Kirk Watson, Rep. Donna Howard, Rep. Eddie Rodriguez, Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos, Judge Nelson Wolff, Commissioner Garry Mauro, Commissioner Brigid Shea, Kathleen Tobin Krueger, Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Paul Begala, Matt Angle, Austin Central Labor Council, Texas AFL-CIO, San Antonio Express-News, Environment Texas, Circle C Area Democrats, Central Austin Democrats, South Austin Democrats, Austin Tejano Democrats, and West Austin Democrats. They join national supporters of Kopser for Congress including Vote Vets PAC, 314 Action Fund, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, Congressman Seth Moulton, Jason Kander, Senator Tammy Duckworth, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Khizr Khan, LEAP Forward, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, New Politics, the Texas Lone Star Project, and the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Joseph Kopser has also been named a Gun Sense Candidate by Moms Demand Action.

Joseph Kopser is a 20-year Army veteran, technology entrepreneur, husband and father of three daughters, and Democratic nominee for Congress in TX-21. His candidacy is driven by concern for the future of our country and the path Washington leadership is taking. He is building a new coalition of voters who believe the values, priorities, and expectations of Texas’ 21st congressional district will serve as a model of service and representation for Texas and the United States.
