ENDORSEMENT, RATINGS CHANGE: Following Strong Debate Performance,

Local and National Shift in Kopser’s Favor

TX-21 upgraded to “Leans Republican”

Express-News endorses “decorated military veteran” Joseph Kopser

(Austin, TX)— On the heels of a strong debate performance, in which Kopser proved his prowess on the issues that matter to TX-21, his campaign received a prominent endorsement and shifted in national race ratings.

FiveThirtyEight, a respected poll aggregator, has upgraded their rating in the heavily gerrymandered Texas 21st Congressional District from “Likely Republican” to “Leans Republican,” giving combat veteran and businessman Joseph Kopser a higher chance of victory than ever before. Kopser released the following statement:

“We’ve raised more than anyone in the history of this district. We’ve identified more supporters than any congressional campaign in Texas. Now, our race ratings have been upgraded once again. We can win this–and more than ever, the evidence says that we will.”

In addition to his successful debate and ratings boost, Kopser received the endorsement of the San Antonio Express-News editorial board. The board, which has endorsed both Democrats and Republicans in competitive congressional races this year, cites Kopser’s strong platform and record on the future economy:

“On so many points, we — as does Kopser — have fundamental disagreements with Roy…. On whether climate change is real, Roy says, “I’m not a scientist.” He says we should eliminate pollutants but not at the expense of people’s lives.

“The United States, a global leader in producing the emissions that accelerate climate change, should be actively working with other countries to battle this. Kopser is there on climate change. We are not at all confident that Roy is. Simply, this is the existential issue of our time.”

“This proves what our internal polling has showed all along,” Kopser added. “When voters hear my story, learn where I stand on the issues, and recognize that our platform reflects more than just one political party but instead the needs of Texas moving forward, we win.”

Joseph Kopser is a 20-year Army veteran, technology entrepreneur, husband and father of three daughters, and Democratic nominee for Congress in TX-21. His candidacy is driven by concern for the future of our country and the path Washington leadership is taking. He is building a new coalition of voters who believe the values, priorities, and expectations of Texas’ 21st congressional district will serve as a model of service and representation for Texas and the United States.
