Joseph Kopser Offers Winning Choice for TX-21 in KVUE, Austin and San Marcos Chambers of Commerce Debate

(Austin, TX) — Today, the Austin and San Marcos Chambers hosted a TX-21 debate, moderated by KVUE News. This is only the second time in the general election that Kopser’s opponent has agreed  to meet onstage to present his platform to the public for an open, accessible conversation on the issues. By contrast, Kopser has held town halls and other public events throughout the ten counties of the district.

Kopser’s decisive debate performance demonstrated his experience with and strong knowledge of the issues that affect the business community, citizens, and the 21st Congressional district overall.

Kopser released the following statement:

“I’ve talked to Democrats, Republicans, and Independents across this district and around the country. There is no disagreement that these are historic times for our country. And there is no disagreement that Congress needs to get to work to meet the needs of these historic times.

Historically, Congress is where change happens. Immigration, equal rights, and campaign reform must all be addressed in DC. My opponent has spent his entire professional career derailing the leadership that Congress was intended to provide. So it’s no surprise that he confirmed again today that he wants to diminish that critical balance in American democracy, lowering expectation of our elected representatives  and ceding authority to special interests.

I’m looking forward to the work of meeting the challenges we face and that it is Congress’ responsibility to fix. Chip Roy wants to keep the status quo and the swamp full.”

Hilary Barrett, Kopser’s Campaign Manager, added:

“We already knew that Joseph’s background makes him a perfect fit for this district, which includes thriving business communities along the I-35 corridor and through the Hill Country, and contains 69,000 veterans and their families. Today he proved once again that he has the chops to win.

“While Chip Roy danced around actual answers and misrepresented Joseph’s position on the issues, Joseph offered the fresh, honest perspective of the next generation of independent leaders. He took Roy to task on his secret sweetheart deal with indicted Ken Paxton, his fear mongering on immigration, and his refusal to be open with the people of this district.

“Joseph has the biography and the real Texas values that will win in this district–and the knowledge and bipartisan support to back it up.”

Kopser and his opponent are scheduled for only one more debate, this time at the League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area’s forum this Thursday, 10/18. Kopser’s libertarian opponent will also be present. Learn more about that event here.

His candidacy is driven by concern for the future of our country and the path Washington leadership is taking. He is building a new coalition of voters who believe the values, priorities, and expectations of Texas’ 21st congressional district will serve as a model of service and representation for Texas and the United States.
